How to Make Money Online? Interesting Ways of Making Money Online

Updated on July 19, 2013

"Making money online" - how many of us do a Google search for this term frequently? I am sure most of us do because earning a few extra bucks while sitting in the comfort of your home always seems like a lucrative opportunity. And all you need is a computer and an internet connection! So why not explore the various possibilities available?

Most of us are already aware that writing articles/blogs online is one amongst them. Of course we knew that, didn't we? Else what would we be doing on HubPages, right?

You must be thinking that if most people already know how to make money online why am I writing another hub about it? The reason being that I chanced upon some "other" interesting ways of doing so and I would like to share them with all of you. They may not be as simple as blogging or content writing and may require you to possess a special skill but if you think that you do have the required skill, why not go ahead and give it a shot? Making some pocket money to pay those bills also helps I am sure...

Providing customer service

Do you have a flair for customer interaction and would like to provide customer service by working from home?

Many retailers today are outsourcing their customer service operations to third party companies. The two well known names in this business are Alpine Access (now known as SYKES Home powered by Alpine Access) and Working Solutions. They hire customer service representatives who work from home at an hourly rate of about $9. The agents work 20 - 40 hours per week (either part time or full time) with the potential to earn incentives depending on the kind of projects they work on.

LiveOps also provides a similar service but their agents function as independent contractors. LiveOps reps have the potential to earn about $15 per hour and they can work as many hours as they want.

Certainly a viable option if you would like to earn a fixed income while staying at home!

Getting paid to give advice

Are you an expert in the field of medicine, law or finance? Then you can register with JustAnswer and get paid to give your valuable advice. You can also provide answers on homework questions, car repairs, computers and personal questions such as weddings and relationships.

How does this work? Customers registered with the website can ask a question and quote the price they are willing to pay for the answer. If the customer is satisfied with the answer and accepts it, the expert gets paid.

Of course the site wants to gain and maintain its customers' trust and hence anyone claiming to be an expert in a certain field must meet all credentials before being labeled as one.

Selling your crafts online

Do you have a hobby or a talent like knitting, crocheting, sewing, jewelry making, pottery or painting (just to name a few)? You can make money online by selling your crafts.

When people look for personalized gifts they prefer to buy handmade ones which add a personal touch instead of checking out branded products.

Etsy is one such website where you sign up for free. You can have your own store where you can showcase your items. You need to pay a fee of 20 cents to list an item with a limit of 5 photos for 4 months. When your item sells you need to pay a 3.5% commission to Etsy. You can charge whatever you want for your item.

If you make jewelry then Jewelry Wonder is the site for you! To be a seller on this website you must have at least 30 items but there are no other charges to be paid and there is no limit on the amount you can charge for your items.

ArtFire is another website where you can sell handmade items, art, crafts, media and supplies. You can either have a basic account which is free of cost or a pro account for $15.95 a month. The basic account itself allows you to list an unlimited number of items plus sell them via your blog or website. The best feature about this website is that you don't need to pay any commission to ArtFire for your sales, hence whatever you make is yours to keep.
